| Watch a Daredevil Walk on Top of a Moving Train Posted: 31 Aug 2015 09:29 AM PDT In a clip that we wouldn’t recommend watching if you’re prone to vertigo, a daredevil named Pasha Bumchik from the Ukrainian capital Kiev appears to jump onto the roof of a commuter train. He then proceeds to walk across like it is no big deal, as dramatic instrumental music plays in the background. He even manages to film a selfie video during the terrifying stunt. The clip has been viewed on YouTube more than 1 million times since it was uploaded two days ago — becoming the most popular video he has ever shared. |
| Kate Winslet Did Not Write This Facebook Post Posted: 31 Aug 2015 09:21 AM PDT Several websites have been aggregating an Aug. 27 post on a Facebook page entitled “Kate Winslet” that encourages women to feel good about how they look without makeup — but the page is not the actress’s official fan page. Though the post was created by community members, fans have been commenting on it with their own “no make-up selfies” — a social media trend that started as a way to raise money for cancer, and grew into a larger campaign meant to empower women. The photo of Winslet, however, is real, and was taken — without prep from hair and makeup team — by renowned photographer Chuck Close for Vanity Fair last year. The actress, who has been outspoken in the past about the use of Photoshop in magazines, also recently appeared on NBC’s Running Wild With Bear Grylls without make-up. But the biggest clue that this “inspirational post” is fake is probably the page’s pinned advertisement for “Dogitude,” a site for dog lovers. |
| President Obama to Run Wild in Alaska With Bear Grylls Posted: 31 Aug 2015 08:34 AM PDT The primary purpose of President Obama’s official visit to Alaska, which begins Monday, is to highlight the effects of climate change on the region. But between a possible hike along the Exit Glacier and visits with salmon fishermen, he will also test his capacity to survive in the wilderness as he tapes a special episode of the NBC reality show Running Wild with Bear Grylls, set to air later this year. The show, now in its second season, has brought celebrities like Kate Winslet and Channing Tatum face-to-face with the elements as Grylls, a survival expert, offers tips on how not to die from snake bites (kill and eat the snake before it eats you) and hunger (eat worms if need be). Past episodes have been filmed in places like Appalachia, Scotland and Yosemite, but Obama’s turn on the show will mark its first trip to Alaska, as well as its first appearance by a sitting president. Obama, who has taken to exclaiming, “the bear is loose!” when leaving the White House for a coffee or a walk, can only hope that his catchphrase remains in the metaphorical realm. ![]()

| Watch Justin Bieber’s Long-Awaited Video for ‘What Do You Mean’ Posted: 31 Aug 2015 06:39 AM PDT It’s been quite the week for Justin Bieber. After releasing his brand new song, “What Do You Mean,” on Friday, the 21-year-old performed his new hit for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday in an emotional performance (complete with tears). He then shared the official music video for the song just moments after the show wrapped. The video, which is more like a short film, is produced by Brad Furman and features Bieber, actor John Leguizamo and model Xenia Deli (Bieber’s rumored new girlfriend). The pop star shows off some serious moves with Deli, 25, during their sexy makeout in a motel room until a couple of masked individuals break into the room and kidnap the duo. After an epic escape, the couple wind up at a skate party where Leguizamo reveals himself as one of the “kidnappers.” Bieber has been teasing his new hit for months on Instagram, enlisting dozens of stars to help him count down to the single’s release. | The Kardashians Get Early Start on Kanye West’s 2020 Presidential Campaign Posted: 31 Aug 2015 06:32 AM PDT Kanye West for president? While accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the MTV Video Music Awards’ highest honor, on Sunday night, West announced that he’s pursuing a career in politics, specifically as president of the United States. “I don’t know what I stand to lose after this, it don’t matter though, because it ain’t about me, it’s about new ideas, bro, new ideas. People with ideas, people who believe in truth,” he said. “And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.” It’s still unclear if he’s serious, but the rapper has the support of one of America’s most powerful families behind him: the Kardashian/Jenner clan (aka this generation’s Kennedys). West’s in-laws quickly rallied their fans across social media in case a bid really is forthcoming. “Mr. West,” tweeted Khloé Kardashian, complete with emoji American flags. Added Kylie Jenner over on Instagram: “Kanye West for President.” Even fans got in on the joke. But Kourtney Kardashian took the cake with this hilarious meme: Hey, we’d watch. | Michigan Man Says He’ll Trade Kanye West Sneakers for a ‘Working Kidney’ Posted: 31 Aug 2015 06:16 AM PDT Kanye West’s Yeezy shoe model may cost an arm and a leg on eBay, but no one said the footwear would be worth a kidney. Matt Neal, a 26-year-old Michigan resident, is promising a pair of Yeezy shoes to anyone who donates a kidney with his matching blood type, according t0 a Facebook offer. A pair of ultra-rare Adidas Yeezy Boost normally sells for $1,000 or more on the Web. “People are always joking that they would give a kidney for a pair of yeezy’s!!” Neal says in a Facebook post. “Well here’s your chance, I’m 26 with 2 failing kidneys.” Waiting for a kidney transplant can take years in most states in the country, a luxury of time many do not have. Neal said in a Facebook post that he has been flooded with responses to his shoe offer. Neal’s shoe-kidney trade may not actually be possible, however, as federal law bans the exchange of merchandise for organs on an open market. He didn’t immediately respond to an interview request. “With all the people getting in touch with me about getting tested it is going to be really hard to message everyone individually,” Neal said on Facebook. “I’m going to find time over the coming days to get back to you all individually. Thank you for all of your love and interest!” |
