A Baby Girl Was Born in the Back of an Uber Car in New York City

(NEW YORK) — Officials say a baby girl was successfully delivered in the backseat of an Uber car parked at the mouth of the Lincoln Tunnel.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the tunnel, says the birthing process began around 5:15 p.m. Monday while the baby’s 32-year-old mother was riding in the ride-hailing company’s car.

The driver flagged down two Port Authority officers, telling them he had woman in labor who “couldn’t wait.”

The Port Authority says an employee delivered a healthy baby in just minutes. It was the second baby senior agent Greg Nimmo has delivered while working for the authority.

The mother, who had been traveling to the hospital from Hoboken, New Jersey, was transported to a hospital along with her new daughter.

James Bond Author Called Idris Elba ‘Too Street’ to Play 007 and the Internet Is Not Happy

In an interview with the Daily Mail published on Aug. 29, Anthony Horowitz, the author commissioned by Ian Fleming’s estate to pen the next James Bond novel, aired his opinion on casting for the next Bond movie. When asked about Idris Elba, a fan favorite for the role, Horowitz responded, “For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond.” He suggested Adrian Lester, the star of the BBC series Hustle, as an alternative.

In the wake of Horowitz’s remarks, many people took to social media to call his choice of words, and especially the word “street,” racially coded. Some compared the use of “street” to the word “urban,” which is often used to imply blackness in a narrow and sometimes derogatory way.

Many read it as a way of Horowitz implying that he doesn’t envision a black James Bond, without saying it in so many words.

Still others simply posted pictures of Elba dressed in dapper attire, confounded at how anyone might consider him anything less than suave.

Others pointed to a slew of other weaknesses in the anti-Elba argument, namely the fact that the role is that of a white man who regularly kills, that not all of the actors who have played Bond represent the pinnacle of suaveness and that regardless of whether one considers Elba suave or “street,” acting means, well, playing something you’re not.

Neither Horowitz nor Elba, who has called rumors of receiving the torch from Daniel Craig nothing more than speculation, have weighed in on the conversation.

Game of Thrones fans may have to make it through winter before another season of the hit HBO show airs, but there’s a new video that puts a different twist on the series.

The same comedians who cut together scenes from Harry Potter showing Harry as the villain are back with a video that does the exact opposite for dangerous boy king Joffrey Baratheon. The clips, which took BloodBlitz Comedy more than 50 hours to edit together, are quite laughable as the evil character is painted in a positive light. There are scenes that depict all of his enemies doting on him — Sansa, Tyrion and even Ned. Margaery Tyrell is the villain in this rewrite, but it doesn’t change the outcome: Joffrey still ends up dead.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night, the late-night host used emojis to recap the moment at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night when Nicki Minaj called out host Miley Cyrus, referring to a recent New York Times interview in which Cyrus described Minaj as “not too kind” and “not very polite.” Kimmel also managed to perfectly sum up the long-winded speech that rapper Kanye West gave when he accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in just two emojis.

In July, Kimmel used emojis to explain the feud between Minaj and Taylor Swift that was sparked when Minaj tweeted that her video “Anaconda” did not receive enough VMA nominations because pop stars with “slim bodies” are favored — a statement that Swift took personally. But the two “buried” their “bad blood” when they performed “The Night Is Still Young” and “Bad Blood” on stage at the awards ceremony Sunday.

Some dogs really, really hate taking baths and will put up a fight as you attempt to get them into the tub. Not this Golden Retriever, though. As you’ll see in the clip above, he’s having the time of his life splashing around and gleefully making a big mess.

We suspect this pup is trying to turn the bath into a jacuzzi, and totally loving it. However, we’re not sure he ultimately enjoyed his bath as much as Barry the pug:

New Jersey Governor and 2016 Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night.

In his monologue, Fallon joked that the politician showed up in one of Miley Cyrus’s outfits from the MTV Video Music Awards.

During the interview, Christie said he would “go nuclear” if he does not get enough questions directed towards him at the next GOP primary debate.

He also told a story about how he and Marco Rubio stayed with Mitt Romney’s family the night before the July 4 parade in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. When Christie said the families all went on a boat ride to get ice cream, Fallon joked that the pol’s reaction to getting ice cream must have been “Yahoo!” That’s when the N.J. politician walked off the stage. When he “cooled off” and sat back down, he told the comedian, “If I ever leave public life, you’re going to have to hire two writers just to replace the garbage you say about me.”

That’s right. Potter’s oldest son is off to his first day at Hogwarts. James Sirius Potter is already well-adjusted to Hogwarts when we meet him in the epilogue of Deathly Hallows. It’s his younger brother, Albus Severus Potter, who gets the spotlight. But not today, as Rowling’s followers supposedly wished James luck for Rowling. The author, as always, continued to play along with the fun.

Ian McKellen: Taylor Swift Kicked Me Out of My Apartment

Sir Ian McKellen wants everyone to know that he’s not part of Taylor Swift’s squad.

In an interview with Gay Star News, the actor was asked how it felt to be in the pop star’s famous posse of friends. (Fellow actor Patrick Stewart recently said that he and McKellen were part of the squad; they were asked to appear on Swift’s 1989 tour.)

“I’m not,” McKellen responded. “When I was living in Peter Jackson’s apartment in New York, Taylor Swift bought it while I was there and I was thrown out before I wanted to leave! That hardly puts me in Taylor Swift’s team, does it?”

According to the interview transcript, McKellen then laughed and explained, “She bought it, she had every right to – I was just lodging there for free!”

And as for turning down the offer of appearing on stage with her: “She did ask me to appear with Patrick Stewart at her show in LA, but I had something else to do that night.”

When Natalie Amyot met an Australian man on the last night of her vacation, she says it was love at first sight.

On her journey home she lost her phone and his number. But six weeks later she found out she was pregnant, and realized she had no way to contact him to tell him she thought he was the father. So she enlisted the help of the Internet.

Amyot, who lives in Paris, created a video she hoped would get passed around and eventually find its way to her blonde Australian.

“We had a beautiful night, and on the next morning I flew home to Paris and lost my phone with his number on it,” she says. “So I have no way to contact him… So I flew back here to try to find him. I have no family of my own. Please, please help me.”

As the video began to go viral, Amyot had to defend herself against online critics. “Oh my god i didn’t know it would be on news,” she posted in a recent comment on YouTube, responding to people alleging that she was irresponsible, or that she was making the whole story up. “Please don’t hate me, i just want to find him…”

Maisie Williams Accepts Guinness World Record on Behalf of Game of Thrones

Season 5 of Game of Thrones was one for the record books – literally. EW can reveal that the wildly popular HBO show will be featured in the 2016 edition of the Guinness World Records, and we have your exclusive first look at Arya Stark – er, Maisie Williams – accepting the honor on behalf of the cast and crew.

Game of Thrones aired the largest simultaneous broadcast of a television drama when the second episode of the most recent season was simulcast to 173 countries and territories around the world, beginning at 2 a.m. on April 20.

Williams made a play to break a world record by skydiving for a good cause this summer, planning to jump out of a plane at 15,000 feet. However, according to Williams’ Twitter feed, “good old British weather” ruined the fun and the jump was postponed. But, at least she’ll be able to share in this glory with the rest of the cast and crew.

The 2016 edition of Guinness World Records will be released Sept. 10.
