| This Police Officer Took the Cutest Selfie With a ‘Fugitive’ Posted: 21 Sep 2015 08:34 AM PDT A dog in Maine was barking up the wrong tree when he escaped from the Humane Society. The Bangor Police Department shared a selfie on social media taken by Officer Eddie Mercier that showed the dog, who had been found and captured, sitting in the backseat of a cop car and poking his head out the window. As the Facebook page joked:

| This Duck-Shaped Tomato Is the Cutest Piece of Fruit You’ve Ever Seen Posted: 21 Sep 2015 08:34 AM PDT A Michigan woman has picked a strangely shaped fruit out of her garden. While going about her normal green-thumb business, Marie Davidek came across an extraordinary tomato — this red fruit looked remarkably like a duck. Davidek described her surprise at finding the tomato with an uncanny bird resemblance. “I thought gee, that’s kind of strange,” she said. “And then I put him down and looked at him and thought, to me, he looks like a duck.” Davidek said she and husband Bob plan to wait to eat the unique tomato for as long as possible. She hopes that sharing her story will help others discover their own green thumbs. “This is really something that I think a lot of people should see,” she said. “Maybe somebody else will start doing a garden.” |
| This Toddler Will Be Your New Favorite Magician Posted: 21 Sep 2015 08:18 AM PDT Meet Scarlett. She’s only 15 months old, but she has already mastered a perfect magic trick. With the encouragement of her dad, Scarlett makes her hand disappear, reappear and then disappear again. All by covering it with her shirtsleeve. Brilliant. At certain moments, she seems genuinely concerned that her hand really has disappeared. She’s just that convincing. As you’ll see about 25 seconds in, Scarlett has already developed a signature ta-da arm gesture. If she keeps practicing, she could have her very own show in Vegas before she even enters preschool. |
| Watch the Ohio State Marching Band Stir Up Halftime With a James Bond Theme Posted: 21 Sep 2015 07:56 AM PDT During a football game on Saturday, in which Ohio State beat Northern Illinois (20-13), the Ohio State University marching band entertained fans with a halftime show inspired by James Bond. On the field, they spelled out “Bond,” “007,” and formed a martini glass with an olive (“shaken, not stirred”), and performed the themes from Dr. No, Skyfall, Live and Let Die. And because it wouldn’t be an Ohio State halftime show without a shot at Michigan, the routine showed an “M” getting destroyed on the field and a car chase between a Buckeyes vehicle and a Wolverines vehicle that ended with the latter driving into a wall. Here is the full-length version: And the 25-second version: The Bond-themed halftime show is well-timed, given the latest film in the franchise Spectre is supposed to be out in theaters on November 6. |
| See Nickelodeon Stars Reunite After ‘What Did Zoey Say’ Reveal Posted: 21 Sep 2015 07:15 AM PDT Chris Massey and Sean Flynn of Zoey 101 weren’t the only Nickelodeon stars to have an epic reunion. The former posted a video to Instagram showing more past Nickelodeon stars getting in on the fun. ”Did someone say #nickelodeon??” Massey captioned the video. Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel, Game Shakers), Nathan Kress (iCarly), and Jace Norman (Henry Danger) were in attendance, as well as Massey and Flynn. Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider can also be seen in the background filming the reunion. Massey posted this video following his reunion with Flynn to answer the decade-long question, “What did Zoey say?” Episode 2 of Zoey 101 featured Jamie Lynn Spears’ character burying a DVD — and with it her feelings for Flynn’s Chase — in a time capsule. Fans finally discovered the answer on the episode’s 10-year anniversary in a new scene released by Schneider. “Thank you to all the #zoey101 fans that watched the #whatdidzoeysay episode that was released yesterday after #10years,” wrote Massey along with another reunion photo of the two stars with Schneider. | Jennifer Lawrence Sent Amy Schumer the Most JLaw Text Ever After the Emmys Posted: 21 Sep 2015 07:01 AM PDT Following her Emmy win for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, Amy Schumer received a heartfelt congratulations from her new BFF, Jennifer Lawrence. “She said that I looked pretty but not smart,” the Inside Amy Schumer actress told Entertainment Tonight, laughing. “She did! She’s really funny. She’s the real deal funny.” Unfortunately, it will be a very long “year or something” before Schumer and Lawrence are able to shoot the screenplay they wrotewith Schumer’s younger sister, Kim. Finally, though Schumer is officially an Emmy winner, still nothing can compare to getting spanked by Madonna onstage at Madison Square Garden in N.Y.C. last week. | Richard Dawkins Did Not Stand With Ahmed the Clockmaker Posted: 21 Sep 2015 06:05 AM PDT Since 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed’s arrest for bringing a homemade clock to school that administrators mistook for a bomb, there has been an outpouring of support for the teen. President Barack Obama invited him to the White House, as did Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The folks at Twitter asked him if he’d like to intern with them. But Richard Dawkins, the evolutionary biologist and noted writer, scholar and contrarian, found something in Ahmed’s story to take issue with — the use of the word “invention” to describe Mohamed’s work. Dawkins went so far as to suggest that describing his clock as such was “fraud” and a “hoax.” Dawkins faced intense backlash for his remarks and repeatedly noted that he believes the teen’s arrest was wrong. He later apologized and retweeted the President’s White House invitation.

| Watch This Kid Masterfully Drown Out an Anti-Gay Preacher Posted: 21 Sep 2015 05:51 AM PDT A young Scottish boy delivered a strong message to an anti-gay preacher who was spreading his ideas with a megaphone. The street preacher was going on a homophobic rant in St. Andrews, Scotland, when a young boy drowned him out by playing the bagpipes, according to local blog and media reports. The preacher was arguing that same-sex marriage was ruining the economy, but passersby could barely make out the preacher’s words. The bagpiper’s message, though, was loud and clear. The video posted to YouTube labels it as the “most Scottish way possible” to silence hate. Watch the full clip below. |
| Tracy Morgan Shows His Trademark Sense of Humor in Surprise Emmys Appearance Posted: 20 Sep 2015 08:27 PM PDT Fifteen months after a six-vehicle collision left him in a coma and killed his friend and collaborator James McNair, Tracy Morgan made a surprise appearance at the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards. As he took the stage to present the Emmy for Best Drama Series, Morgan received a standing ovation from his peers, many of them moved at the sight of the comedian, whose road to recovery has been arduous. While Morgan’s initial remarks about his difficult year took a somber tone, it didn’t take long before he exhibited his trademark sense of humor. Reflecting on the accident—and the fatigued truck driver who caused it—he deadpanned, “When I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn that I wasn’t the one who messed up.” Morgan assured the audience that he was indeed back, quipping, “A whole lot of women are gonna get pregnant at the after party.” After more than a year-long process of rehabilitation, Morgan will take a different stage on Oct. 17 when he returns to Saturday Night Live to host the show for a second time. |
| Watch Uzo Aduba’s Tearful Speech for Her Record-Breaking Emmy Win Posted: 20 Sep 2015 08:02 PM PDT Actress Uzo Aduba took home the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series on Sunday night, her second consecutive Emmy for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black. Because the show was categorized as a comedy in 2014 and a drama in 2015, Aduba’s win makes her the first actress to win both a drama and comedy award for the same role — an honor previously held only by the actor Ed Asner. As she thanked a long list of people, Aduba broke down in tears. “I love you mostly because you let me be me,” she said. She finished her speech by thanking her sister, whom she brought as her guest to the Emmys. “I am humbled to call myself your sister,” she said. “I love you so much.” |
