Watch Stephen Colbert Face Off with Stephen Curry In Sock-Shooting Challenge

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 09:23 AM PDT

Stephen Colbert has a beef to settle with Stephen Curry. And what better way to settle it than by competing with the NBA MVP in a shooting contest on live TV?

Late-night host Colbert challenged Curry to a sock shoot-off on Monday night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The bet? Winner gets to be number one in the Google search results for “Stephen,” of course. Colbert explained that he has been fighting to rise in the “Stephen” search rankings for years.

“The problem is that when you type in S-t-e-p-h-e-n into Google search, the number one answer is not me,” he said. “The number one answer is you. It used to go you, Stephen Hawking and then me. I was sucking his exhaust for years. But now I’ve bumped up to number two and I need us to settle who is the Stephen of Stephens here.”

The two faced off in a competition to see who could shoot the most rolled-up socks into a laundry basket in 30 seconds. The score was tied at the end of the time limit so the game went to sudden-death, where both made their only shot.

We guess it’s still up to SEO to decide who reigns supreme on Google.

British Pub Fined After Liquid Nitrogen Shot Destroys Woman’s Stomach

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 09:04 AM PDT

A family-run bar in the United Kingdom has been fined £100,000, or roughly $150,000, after a cocktail containing liquid nitrogen burned a large hole in an 18-year-old woman’s stomach.

Gaby Scanlon, now 20, was served the “Nitro-Jagermeister” shot containing the anise flavored liquor and liquid nitrogen on her 18th birthday at Oscar’s Wine Bar in Lancaster, the BBC reports.

“I turned to the man and asked if it was okay to drink. He said ‘Yes’,” she said. Moments later she knew something was wrong, she told the court. “Smoke was coming from my nose and mouth. Straight away I knew something was not right. My stomach expanded.”

Scanlon spent three weeks in the hospital, where a large hole was found in her stomach. The organ was removed entirely and her esophagus connected directly to her small intestine. Her attorneys say she now suffers from “episodes of agonizing pain” and can no longer enjoy eating.

Cocktails containing liquid nitrogen are legal but can be deadly if the liquid does not completely evaporate before the shot is taken. Liquid nitrogen creates a dramatic cloud of smoke in the glass.

See Brad Pitt and Christian Bale in the Trailer for Financial Crisis Flick The Big Short

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 08:50 AM PDT

Most Americans suffered, to varying degrees, as a result of the financial crisis of 2007 and 2008, but The Big Short is about the ones who profited. The adaptation of the nonfiction book of the same name by Michael Lewis—author of Moneyball and The Blind Side—tells the story of the real estate derivative brainiacs who foresaw the crash, bet against the bubble and came out stinking rich.

The trailer introduces the film’s ensemble cast—Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling—as they navigate the calculations, both mathematical and ethical, of the bets they’re making. The film marks a dramatic turn for director Adam McKay, whose previous credits include the Will Ferrell vehicles Step Brothers and Anchorman.

The Big Short will premiere at the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles in November, followed by a limited release Dec. 11 before expanding nationwide on Christmas Day.

This Handy Tool Will Turn You Into a Peanuts Character

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 08:41 AM PDT

We can all agree that the only thing that’s missing from Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts world is, well, us. The Peanuts Movie director Steve Martino thinks so, too—so he went ahead and built a website that finally makes entering the Peanuts’ universe possible.

Peanutize Me, a new website from Martino and his cohorts, lets you transform yourself into a Schulz-esque character, then share your cartoon self with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

“Charles Schulz always said there’s a little bit of him in all the characters he created,” Martino told USA Today. “You build the character that represents you. And since these are Peanuts characters, they sort of point to people’s inner child.”

Now’s the time to ask yourself: Is your inner child a blonde, or a brunette? Does he or she sport a ‘90s-style friendship bracelet, or a pair of glasses? Does your inner child prefer standing directly in front of Linus as he snuggles his security blanket in the autumn breeze, or directly in front of Pig-Pen as he revels in his cloud of dirt at a school dance?

The Peanuts Movie hits theaters Nov. 6.

Benedict Cumberbatch Nailed the Response to a Mean Tweet About His Face

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 08:30 AM PDT

On Monday night, Jimmy Kimmel announced that a different celebrity will appear on the show every day this week to do a dramatic reading of mean tweets directed at them. It’s a twist on his popular sketch series, with soft music playing in the background as if the celebrities were on stage at an open mic night. After Cumberbatch read aloud a message that said people who find him attractive must also like staring at a “cats anus” (without the apostrophe “s”), he replied, “Well someone did [find him attractive], and she put a ring on it,” holding up his ring finger.

Watch Jimmy Fallon Smack Ryan Reynolds In the Face

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 08:09 AM PDT

One of Jimmy Fallon’s favorite pastimes is bringing celebrities onto his show and causing them profound physical discomfort. He’s smashed eggs onto the head of Tom Cruise. He’s thrown water directly into the face of Lindsay Lohan. He hurled sticky balls at a velcro-covered Channing Tatum.

His latest—and most ferocious—coup: Smacking Ryan Reynolds in the face with a massive prosthetic hand.

Last night, Reynolds stopped by The Tonight Show to promote his new movie, Mississippi Grind, in which he plays a smooth-talking gambler. To prove he was worth his salt in card-sharking, Fallon asked Reynolds to engage in a friendly game of Slapjack, yet another one of Fallon’s twisted divertissements. This particular game, as Fallon explained it, “works the same as blackjack, but at the end of each round, the winner gets to slap the loser across the face with a giant prosthetic hand.”

Naturally, Reynolds soon found himself knocked to the ground by the large, fleshy palm, the latest victim of Fallon’s malevolent mind.

Mississippi Grind hits theaters this Friday, Sept. 25.

Watch Kermit and Miss Piggy Awkwardly Discuss Their Breakup

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 07:59 AM PDT

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy rehashed their relationship and discussed new ventures on Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, in their first joint interview since their very public breakup in August.

The Muppets‘ stars still seemed rather testy around each other but were willing to talk about what led to their split. Piggy was quick to rattle off several reasons she had wanted to end it.

“It’s the usual laundry list, you know,” she explained. “Put the lid down, closing the refrigerator door, not doing the dishes while taking a bath in the sink.”

Kimmel asked if the couple was surprised by the amount of coverage the breakup had gotten.

“Anything that happens to me is going to be front-page news,” Piggy said. “I’m kind of like the Donald Trump of love, you know. Everything I do is huge.”

“And therein lies some of the problem,” Kermit quickly jabbed back.

The host then brought up Kermit’s new girlfriend, Denise, which led to a discussion of Piggy’s current love life, her possible future as ABC’s next Bachelorette and her new Tinder profile, created by Jimmy Kimmel Live staff.

Her bio is on point, reading: “Looking for guys into style. Let’s get this pig in a blanket.”

Justin Timberlake Wrote a New Theme Song For Late Night with Seth Meyers

Posted: 22 Sep 2015 07:11 AM PDT

Justin Timberlake just wrote a new theme song for his favorite late night talk show host. You know, the guy with whom he wrote multiple chapters of the History of Rap and danced to Beyoncé at the U.S. Open and played summer camp besties who can’t stop singing Third Eye Blind, and rapped the entire history of Saturday Night Live for the show’s 40th anniversary. You know the guy—Seth Meyers.

Wait, that wasn’t Seth Meyers at all. That was Jimmy Fallon, who is Timberlake’s long-time, well-established favorite late night talk show host. So who did Timberlake write the theme song for? A British guy with glasses? A British guy without glasses? Someone who just took over for David Letterman? Turns out, it’s all of the above.
