| One Direction’s Harry Styles Corrects Fan’s Grammatically Incorrect Poster Posted: 07 Sep 2015 09:37 AM PDT Harry Styles just taught one fan a (grammar) lesson she’ll never forget. Last week during a Philadelphia show on the band’s On the Road Again Tour, the One Direction member spotted a sign from 16-year-old fan Taelor Ford that read “Hi Harry! Your So Nice” instead of the grammatically correct “Hi Harry! You’re So Nice.” But Styles wasn’t about to let his influence as a teen idol go to waste, so he gestured for Ford to pass the sign up to the stage, where he took to correcting it himself before giving it back to her. The “You’re” vs “Your” mistake frequently draws the ire of the Internet, and Ford is no exception. Not all of the international attention she’s received since her brush with boy-band royalty has been positive, but at least she’s keeping her sense of humor about it. |
| Beyoncé Plays Ronda Rousey’s ‘Do-Nothing Bitch’ Speech at Made In America Posted: 07 Sep 2015 08:06 AM PDT Beyoncé tore up the Budweiser Made in America festival over the weekend, but one moment from her concert seems to have stood out above the rest. Just before Beyoncé performed “Diva,” the 34-year-old singer played MMA fighter Ronda Rousey’s famed “do-nothing bitch” speech. “I have this one term for the kind of woman that my mother raised me to not be. And I call it a do-nothing bitch,” Rousey said in a UFC vlog earlier this summer, audio from which Beyoncé projected to the crowd. “A kind of chick that just tries to be pretty and be taken care of by somebody else. That’s why I think it’s hilarious when people say my body looks masculine or something like that. Listen, just because my body was developed for a purpose other than f—ing millionaires, doesn’t mean it’s masculine. I think it’s femininely badass as f— because there’s not a single muscle in my body that isn’t for a purpose. Because I’m not a do-nothing bitch.” After the concert, Rousey retweeted a story about Beyoncé using her words to introduce “Diva.” She also posted a photo to Instagram of the track playing on her phone. UFC president Dana White also shared the clip from Beyoncé’s concert on his Twitter account. For more on Beyoncé at Budweiser Made in America, head here. | Taylor Swift’s Hand-Knit Sweater of a Polaroid Selfie Is ‘Everything’ Posted: 07 Sep 2015 07:12 AM PDT Taylor Swift may have just found her no. 1 fan. The “Blank Space” singer posted a picture of herself posing in a fan-made sweater featuring… a Polaroid picture of herself. “Someone knitted this sweater for me of a Polaroid of myself and gave it to my mom tonight at the show,” Swift, 25, captioned the Instagram photo, which shows her giving an enthusiastic thumbs-up. The lovingly-knit pull-over features one of the Polaroids from Swift’s 1989 album. The fan even knitted the words that appear beneath pic. Talk about attention to detail. Swift added: “It has very quickly become my everything. Thank you, mysterious knitter.” Swift’s mother Andrea has been attending fewer of her daughter’s concerts of late after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. But fans have been keeping an eye out for Andrea, sharing sweet pics of her on social media when they do see her to show their support. This article originally appeared on People.com |
| Netflix Didn’t Think Top Gear Stars Were Worth Paying For Posted: 07 Sep 2015 05:56 AM PDT Some people might think the former hosts of Top Gear are worth top dollar, but not Netflix. An executive at the streaming service has said that Netflix didn’t believe Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – who all left the BBC car show after Clarkson assaulted a producer earlier in 2015 — were worth the money they were asking for to present a new show. (The trio has signed a deal with Amazon Prime.) “We have past episodes of Top Gear, so we have a pretty good gauge of what audiences like,” Neil Hunt, Netflix’s Chief Product Officer, told the U.K. site Digital Spy. “Our buying decisions tend to be somewhat data-driven. We have a lot of data to get the deals we want, so there we go. Clearly it wasn’t worth the money to make the deal… I think they sold themselves for way more money [than they’re worth].” However, Hunt did follow up the interview with a statement, noting that “[t]here is an audience for everything and it is not up to us to judge if Amazon has paid too much or not.” |
| Danny Boyle Is Planning on a Trainspotting Sequel for His Next Film Posted: 07 Sep 2015 05:48 AM PDT Director Danny Boyle has some ideas for his next film project: the long-anticipated sequel to Trainspotting. But it’s not just Boyle who is keen to revist the 1996 film about a gang of heroin addicts in 1980s Edinburgh. The British director told Deadline that “All the four main actors want to come back and do it.” He added, “Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series.” The original film, which was based on Irvine Welsh’s novel of the same name, was scripted by John Hodge. Boyle told Deadline that Hodge had also written the script for Trainspotting 2, based again on a Welsh novel, 2002’s Porno, which takes place nine years after the events of Trainspotting. The film’s original stars include Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, Kevin McKidd, Ewen Bremner and Kelly Macdonald. (Miller and Carlyle are the actors that both appear on U.S. television screens, with roles on Elementary and Once Upon a Time, respectively.) |
| See Ralph Fiennes Dance His Heart Out at Venice Film Festival Posted: 07 Sep 2015 03:41 AM PDT When that boogie fever hits, you just have to go with it — even if you’re posing for photos in front of professional photographers. Ralph Fiennes made a big splash during the Venice Film Festival photocall for his latest film, A Bigger Splash, by spontaneously dancing a little jig for the cameras. A Bigger Splash, directed by Luca Guadagnino, is a psychological drama starring Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, and Matthias Schoenaerts. Thankfully, this photo opp was anything but dramatic, as evidenced by Fiennes and his dance moves. In the film, Fiennes portrays a record producer and the ex-lover of a rock legend (Swinton). When he arrives on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with his daughter (Johnson), he spoils his ex’s holiday vacation with her current partner (Schoenaerts). Fox Searchlight will release A Bigger Splash in theaters on May 13, 2016. This article originally appeared on EW.com |
| This Video of a K-Pop Singer Falling 8 Times in 1 Song Will Inspire You to Keep Going No Matter What Posted: 07 Sep 2015 02:07 AM PDT Just 25 seconds into their performance in the South Korean capital, Seoul, on Saturday, one of the members of Korean girl band GFriend took a tumble on stage. But not long after she picked herself up, band member Yuju (seen wearing a white knee protector) fell over again, and then again and again. In fact she slipped over eight times during the four-minute song, reports Mashable. Midway through the performance of their new hit Me Gustas Tu, another member, SinB, also face-planted the slippery stage. A video of the performance posted to YouTube has been viewed more than 1 million times since it was uploaded on Saturday. Despite the blunders the girls regained their composure and carried on with their high-energy performance like true professionals, demonstrating to us all that no matter how many times life knocks you down, just get back up and carry on.
