This Self-Rolling Yoga Mat Will Only Make You Lazier

Posted: 08 Sep 2015 09:53 AM PDT

A Kickstarter has raised more than 30 thousand dollars by promising yogis and fitness junkies an easier way to do the easiest part of exercise: rolling up your mat.

But if you want savor your savasana pose for a few seconds longer, YoYo Mat might just be for you.

According to an accompanying video, this product is the world’s “first self-rolling yoga mat” and it “stays rolled up without the use of straps or bags.” Its founders promise it’ll ease the pain of post-class problems caused by normal yoga mats that are really, really hard to roll up.

Creator Aaron Thornton says he used inspiration from slap-on wristbands to create the self-rolling mat and worked on the design for more than a year with partner Dino May and creative designer Yu Tsai. The Kickstarter is aiming to get $50,000 by Oct. 16. See how it works in the video below.

Everyone Loves This Chicago Cop Who Bought a Homeless Man Chipotle

Posted: 08 Sep 2015 09:49 AM PDT

A Facebook user recently said she noticed a Chicago police officer buying a meal for a homeless man, and the Chicago Police Department has verified the story in a post on the social network.

The department said that Sergeant B. Hagarty, a 35-year veteran of the force who is retiring soon, was eating alone in the restaurant when he saw a homeless man “dumpster diving” outside and motioned for him to come inside, where he bought him food. That’s when he said a woman approached him to say witnessing the random act of kindness made her day and said he suspected it was the same woman, Rachel Mitchell, who wrote about the encounter on Facebook in a post that was shared by country music station Big 95.5 Chicago.

The police department’s post has been shared nearly 10,000 times since it went up on Sep. 4.

Watch Obama Snack on a Bear’s Leftover Salmon in the Wild

Posted:

On Tuesday, The TODAY Show aired a clip of President Barack Obama snacking on salmon that had been half-eaten by a bear and cooked up by “survival expert” Bear Grylls during the commander-in-chief’s three day visit to Alaska for an upcoming episode of NBC’s Running Wild With Bear Grylls (airing this fall).

The President — who is known for declaring “the bear is loose” whenever he leaves the White House to do something ordinary Americans do — made it very clear that he was not used to roughing it, calling Grylls a “mediocre cook” and adding, “It would have been nice if we had a cracker to go with it.”

Watch Grumpy Cat ‘Throw’ the First Pitch at a Diamondbacks Game

Posted: 08 Sep 2015 09:16 AM PDT

Beloved feline celebrity Grumpy Cat threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Monday’s game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants. And no, we don’t mean she literally threw the pitch herself, because she is a cat.

What Grumpy Cat did was touch the ball with her paw (while wearing a Diamondbacks jersey) and then hang back while a human threw it for her:

Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, was born about 50 miles from Phoenix, so she’s something of a hometown hero. She was obviously not excited about any of this, but the Diamondbacks sure were. Let’s look to the team’s Twitter feed for evidence of their exuberance:

Stay tuned for for Grumpy Cat’s new wax figure, debuting later this year at Madame Tussauds.

Watch This Rogue Rabbit Wreak Havoc at Football Game

Posted: 08 Sep 2015 07:51 AM PDT

It’s always exciting when a cute animal makes its way onto the field at a sporting event. (Remember that gleeful wiener dog who recently stole the show at a baseball game?) On Monday’s Labor Day Classic in Calgary, Canada, it happened again — but this time with a rabbit.

The Edmonton Eskimos and the Calgary Stampeders were in the middle of their game when a rabbit appeared pretty much out of nowhere. He then proceeded to sprint gleefully all over the field.

The announcers got really into it, especially when the rabbit reached the end zone and “scored.” Also when he leapt about 20 feet into the air. Definitely a great way to spice up an otherwise ordinary football game.

The Rock Saved His Adorable French Bulldog Puppies From Drowning

Posted: 08 Sep 2015 07:03 AM PDT

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a hero. Not only did the action star save the lives of his new French bulldog puppies, but he also saved the day from post-long weekend ennui thanks to the photo he posted of himself, soaking wet, holding two puppies.

The pro-wrestler turned actor posted a cautionary tale on Instagram involving his two new French bulldog puppies, Brutus and Hobbs, a swimming pool and his cell phone. The Ballers star brought his new puppies home over the weekend and when he tried to introduce them to the great outdoors, they made a beeline for his swimming pool. Since Frenchies are not known for their flotation skills, being quite top-heavy, one of the pups swam, while the other immediately sank to the bottom of the pool. Johnson dove into the water to save the tiny dog, but in his haste to be a real life action hero, he forgot to take his cellphone out of his pocket. At least phones are replaceable.

Watch Barack Obama Sing the Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’

Posted: 08 Sep 2015 06:36 AM PDT

We have a new artist throwing in a late entry for song of the summer, and it’s Barack Obama “singing” along to the Weeknd’s hit, “Can’t Feel My Face.” The good folks at BarackDubs created a splice-and-stich version of Obama performing the track during speeches, panel appearances, and newscasts.

The new vid rivals their previous creations: Obama singing “Free At Last,” “Uptown Funk,” “Problem,” and “Timber.” But this one would surely make The Weeknd, whose second album Beauty Behind The Madness came out last month, proud.

Justin Bieber Explains Why He’s Not in a Relationship: ‘I Got My Heart Broken’

Posted: 08 Sep 2015 03:59 AM PDT

There’s a sad reason why there’s no one special in Justin Bieber‘s life at the moment.

The singer opened up about it during an interview on Monday with Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O.

“I haven’t been in a relationship for a while now,” the 21-year-old said after the hosts asked him who he’d be bringing with him to Australia when he performs there later this month.

When Kyle questioned why a young pop star would want to be seriously involved with anyone anyway, Bieber clarified, “I’m a relationship type of guy. I love to be in love, love cuddling. I love all that stuff.”

He added, “I got my heart broken. I’m just trying to let that heal up.”

That prompted Jackie O. to ask about his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez. The radio host asked about Gomez’s name being scrawled on a wall in his new “What Do You Mean?” video, and he dismissed it, saying, “I think that might be fake,” before going on to say “it wasn’t me that did that.”
