| Watch Donald Trump and Stephen Colbert Play ‘Who Said It?’ Posted: 23 Sep 2015 08:57 AM PDT If you thought there would never come a time when things said by a presidential candidate would be interchangeable with statements made by Stephen Colbert’s exaggerated right-wing hawk persona from The Colbert Show, you didn’t anticipate Donald Trump running for office. Colbert demonstrated this by challenging Trump to a game of “Who Said It: Trump or Colbert?” on Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “For years, I played an over the top, conservative character – not as long as you did, but for many years,” the host jabs. To his credit, Trump seems pretty conscious of his past statements, guessing the speaker of most of the quotes correctly. However, he does get turned around on a comment about the environment. “It’s freezing and snowing in New York. We need global warming!,” is a remark originally made by Trump. However, he recovers quickly, managing to sidestep Colbert’s ace in the hole: a statement made by Charles Manson. |
| The Rock Knows Exactly How He Feels About This Mean Tweet Posted: 23 Sep 2015 08:51 AM PDT On Tuesday night, as part of the special “Mean Tweets” week on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Bette Midler, and Liam Neeson did a dramatic reading of mean tweets about them.”The Rock” goes for the jugular, with a crude response that plays off the original insult. Midler took a tweet that said she had a “big penis” as a compliment. And Liam Neeson just gave up and pretended to cry after reading a tweet from a user who called him a “butt” and told him to “eat s***.” |
| Why Kerry Washington Was Embarrassed by Her Parents’ Love for Game of Thrones Posted: 23 Sep 2015 08:45 AM PDT Well, how would you react if you met Khal Drogo in the flesh? On Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Scandal star Kerry Washington revealed that her parents — who are huge Game of Thrones fans — embarrassed her at an HBO after-party for the Emmys a few years ago. Despite having been married to Washington’s father for “over 40 years,” her mother “turned into a 16-year-old girl” upon meeting Jason Momoa. She totally lost it, says Washington, but her father didn’t seem to mind: “My dad’s crush is about the same.” Needless to say, Washington’s parents did not attend the Emmys at their daughter’s side this year. The segment ended with host Jimmy Kimmel putting a mental image in Washington’s mind that will surely haunt her nightmares for the rest of her life. Check it out above. | This Genius Figured Out the Perfect Caption For Every New Yorker Cartoon Posted: 23 Sep 2015 08:37 AM PDT Film critic Roger Ebert famously claimed to have entered nearly every New Yorker cartoon caption contest since its inception before he finally came up with one that passed muster. He may have had better luck just repeatedly trying out this caption, discovered by New York-based designer and apparent cartoon genius Frank Chimero. It seems to work for every cartoon in these hyperconnected times of ours. Chimero’s isn’t the first universal caption—as pointed out by the Atlantic, there are two blogs dedicated to applying two other universal captions to every cartoon: “What a misunderstanding,” and “Christ, what an a**hole.” Chimero has officially entered his caption in the New Yorker‘s caption contest this week. Fingers crossed. |
| Watch a Squirrel Dig a Shake Shack Milkshake Out of the Trash and Drink It All Posted: 23 Sep 2015 08:32 AM PDT Hot on the heels of the Pizza Rat video, Mashable has shared a clip of a squirrel digging a Shake Shack milkshake out of a trash can, pulling off the top, and sticking half of its body inside the paper cup to lap up the leftovers. Unlike Pizza Rat, this New Yorker got the job done, while his slice-loving cousin gave up half-way through his mission. We can’t wait to see what junk food-loving rodent pops up next. | Watch Britney Spears Prank Bodyguards on Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris Posted: 23 Sep 2015 07:33 AM PDT If, like most of us, your biggest dream is to hear Britney Spears actually greet someone with the line, “It’s Britney, bitch,” then this clip from Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris will probably be the best thing you ever watch. NPH teamed up with Spears and Joe Jonas for a segment called “Voices In Your Head” on Tuesday night’s episode of his new variety show. The sketch features Spears interviewing potential bodyguards, Wesley, Andrew and Keith, for her Las Vegas show while Harris and Jonas instruct her on everything to say and do. The interviews start in Spears’ dressing room, where she delivers several hilarious lines fed to her through an earpiece. The pop star introduces herself as “the one and only Britney Spears” and asks Andrew, a former military man, if he is “stronger than tanks?” She then takes each candidate to the stage where she asks, “Can you be close to me at all times?,” before launching into a surprise high-energy dance routine. At least Wesley seems to discover that he’s missing his calling as a backup dancer. |

| Starbucks Introduces a Toasted Graham Latte Posted: 23 Sep 2015 06:43 AM PDT Get ready for a new fall flavor. Starbucks announced Wednesday that a new Toasted Graham Latte is now available in all U.S. and Canada stores. In a news release, the new drink is described as “an espresso beverage with steamed milk, flavors of graham and sweet cream and finished with a sprinkling of cinnamon graham crumbles.” Think graham crackers soaked in milk or milk-flavored gelato, according to Starbucks beverage R&D manager Yoke Wong in a statement. “I thought about the back-to-school season and looked at the latest food and beverage trends,” she said. “What I found to be quite popular in the U.S. is the taste of cereal milk, the delicious leftovers in your breakfast bowl.” |
| The Target Customer Service Troll Is Back to Defend Rainbow Doritos Posted: 23 Sep 2015 05:12 AM PDT Earlier this summer, Mike Melgaard created a fake Target customer service account to troll shoppers who were complaining on the company’s Facebook page about its decision to stop labeling toys as “boys” or “girls” toys. Now Melgaard has pulled off a similar stunt, this time provoking the snackers who were outraged that Doritos launched a line of rainbow chips as a part of a new campaign to support LGBT youth through the It Gets Better project. The account was quickly shut down, but not before Melgaard managed to reply to upset customers with snarky responses under the username “Doritos ForHelp.” When one 60-year-old Doritos fan threatened to “never buy another of your long line of products,” and he answered, ‘Unfortunately, you are well passed what we in the business like to call our ‘customer demographic.’ Your world views are just too outdated for our business model.” When another chastised the company on the grounds that “corporations have no business promoting political agendas,” Melgaard replied, “What is funny is that with the ruling of Citizens United in 2010, corporations very much DO have business in promoting political agendas. Now, how is helping youth from committing suicide ‘taking a political stance?’” On his personal Facebook, Melgaard took a more serious tone, writing that “anyone being “upset” over this issue is really just slowing down the collective progress for all of humanity. And you’re doing it for no reason other than your personal bias.” |
| Watch These Women Not Be Active While Wearing Activewear Posted: 23 Sep 2015 02:40 AM PDT Fear not, lovers of stretchy, comfy clothing known as activewear — the ladies behind the Australian sketch comedy group, Skit Box, want to assure you that it’s totally okay to wear them anywhere but the gym. From going grocery shopping, to drinking coffee to even being hungover, these ladies show the multiple ways that you can don activewear without actually exercising. This particular send-up was uploaded on Tuesday by the Van Vuuren Bros, an Australian comedy duo who have gained notoriety and fame in their homeland with their depictions of hipster life on Bondi beach. In this case, one half of the duo, Christaan Van Vuuren, directed and co-wrote the song behind the video, Mashable reports. The video may seem ridiculous, but the numbers speak for themselves in confirming that this trend is undoubtedly on the rise. According to Fortune, activewear has been flying off the shelves, with companies like Nike and Under Armour seeing a double-digit rise in their sales of fitness attire last year as more people adopt the “athleisure” trend. |
