Colorado DJ Sues Taylor Swift After Being Fired Over Butt-Grabbing Accusation Posted: 13 Sep 2015 07:47 AM PDT A former Denver, CO. radio DJ—fired after a 2013 meet-and-greet with Taylor Swift led to accusations from the singer that he had “grabbed her bottom”—is suing her. David Mueller, whose radio pseudonym was “Jackson,” filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming the accusations are not true, according to CNN. The incident occurred in June 2013, when Mueller and his girlfriend and co-worker, Shannon Melcher, attended a meet-and-greet with Swift for work. Mueller and Melcher joined Swift for a photo, after which Swift allegedly complained to her security team that Mueller had lifted her “skirt with his hands and grabbed her bottom.” Mueller and Melcher were immediately removed by Swift’s security personnel; afterwards, Mueller was fired. Mueller denies the claim. “The contention that Mr. Mueller lifted up Ms. Swift’s skirt and grabbed her bottom, while standing with his girlfriend, in front of Ms. Swift’s photographer and Ms. Swift’s highly trained security personnel, during a company sponsored, VIP, backstage meet-and-greet, is nonsense, particularly given that Ms. Swift’s skirt is in place and is not being lifted by Mr. Mueller’s hand in the photograph,” the lawsuit said, according to CNN. The photograph was unavailable, but both sides contend it backs their side. While Swift’s camp has described the photograph as “damning,” Mueller’s lawsuit brushes accusations aside. “Although Mr. Mueller’s hand is behind Ms. Swift and therefore not visible, it is clear that her skirt is in place and is not being lifted by Mr. Mueller’s hand,” the lawsuit said. “Similarly, Ms. Swift’s hand is behind Mr. Mueller and therefore not visible.” Mueller is seeking to recuperate his income. In 2013, he was making $150,000 a year.
Watch the Trailer for the Back to the Future Documentary Back in Time Posted: 12 Sep 2015 01:36 PM PDT The Back to the Future franchise turned 30 this year, and fans are no less obsessive about debating plot theories and fawning over Deloreans than they were when the first installment of the trilogy hit theaters on July 3, 1985. Now, a new documentary will tell the story behind the movies, with participation from director and co-writer Robert Zemeckis, writer Bob Gale, producer Steven Spielberg, and the film’s original cast. Back in Time, which hits theaters on Oct. 21—the same day Michael J. Fox arrived in the future in the trilogy’s second installment—recounts the inspiration for the story, the decision to use the Delorean, and the impact the series has had in the decades since its release. “It really is for me inarguably the greatest time travel movie ever put on film,” says Spielberg in the trailer. Huey Lewis, the musician behind the original movie’s theme, “Back in Time,” that shares a name with the documentary, is also featured. “They picked the right song,” says Lewis.
Fire Dept. Rescues Escaped 100-Pound Tortoise Posted: 12 Sep 2015 01:12 PM PDT (UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J.) — A 100-pound tortoise is back with its owner after meandering more than a mile away from its northern New Jersey home. NJ.com reports a motorist spotted Sulley on the side of a road Friday and called the state police. Pattenburg Volunteer Fire Company’s chief, Dan VanFossen, says they were about to go looking for Sulley on Friday afternoon when they got the call that the tortoise had been found. Volunteer firefighters and a search-and-rescue dog searched unsuccessfully for several hours on Thursday. Sulley’s owner, Laura Roerig, says the tortoise went missing from a backyard enclosure in Union Township on Sunday morning when she went to church. Roerig says Sulley is healthy and unharmed, but won’t be staying in the enclosure until it’s repaired. She says Sulley’s in timeout.
Yoko Ono Will Honor John Lennon’s 75th Birthday by Attempting Largest Ever Human Peace Sign Posted: 12 Sep 2015 01:05 PM PDT In honor of what would have been John Lennon’s 75th birthday, Yoko Ono will attempt to orchestrate the world’s largest human peace sign. Rolling Stone reports the event will take place on Oct. 6 in New York City’s Central Park, commemorating the late Beatle, who was born on Oct. 9, 1940 and assassinated in 1980. Ono hopes to convene between 6,000 and 10,000 people at the park’s East Meadow and arrange participants into a peace sign before an aerial photograph is taken at 12:30 p.m. If enough people attend, the tribute will break the Guinness World Record of 5,814 people. Ono announced the event outside New York’s city hall on Thursday, where a group of city officials and children held a Lennon sing-along. In the month leading up to Lennon’s birthday, the “John Lennon Educational Tour Bus,” a nonprofit mobile audio and video recording facility, will be stationed at different locations across the city for educational programs.
You Will Soon Be Able to Travel in a Star Wars-Themed Aircraft Posted: 12 Sep 2015 12:31 PM PDT ANA, Japan’s largest airline, announced Saturday that two new Star Wars-themed aircraft will join the previously unveiled R2-D2 ANA Jet. The BB-8 ANA Jet, a Boeing 777-300ER, will feature the image of BB-8, a new character from the franchise’s forthcoming installment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, while the The Star Wars ANA Jet will feature both BB-8 and R2-D2 on a Boeing 767-300. The aircraft are part of the Star Wars Project, which ANA launched in April after signing a five-year contract with Disney to promote the Star Wars brand. In addition to the planes’ signature outward appearance, the project includes in-flight movie paraphernalia, ranging from Star Wars headrest covers to movie-themed napkins distributed during beverage service. Perhaps more exciting for fans than the ability to travel in a Star Wars jet is that they will be able to watch Star Wars while doing it. ANA will become the only airline to offer all six of the franchise’s movies as part of its in-flight entertainment plan. The three Star Wars jets will serve both domestic and international routes, beginning with the rollout of the R2-D2 for international flights in October, followed by the rollout of the Star Wars Jet for domestic Japanese routes in November, and finally by the rollout of the BB-8 for international routes in March 2016.
| Watch This Little Girl Try to Escape Her Shadow After Discovering It for the First Time Posted: 12 Sep 2015 10:39 AM PDT A little girl discovered her shadow live on film, and it’s equal parts hilarious and adorable. The video shows the child noticing a dark, girl-shaped figure aping her every move, leaving her to do the only thing she could think of: Running away. But, shadows being what they are, she couldn’t escape, and subsequently launched into an epic, panicked meltdown. We can only hope that her terror gave way to a teaching moment, and that she’ll be giggling to shadow puppets in no time. Watch the video below:

Emmy-Winning Producer Allegedly Stabbed Tenant Over Oscars Comment Posted: 12 Sep 2015 10:11 AM PDT An Emmy-winning producer is wanted by authorities after allegedly stabbing his tenant with a kitchen knife earlier this week. The L.A. County district attorney’s office filed a felony complaint for warrant Thursday for Andre Salaman Bautista, who goes by Andre Bauth, for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, a spokesman for the D.A.’s office confirmed to EW. A man who identified himself as the stabbing victim, 23-year-old actor Clayton Haymes, told KCBS-TV Channel 2 that Bautista, his landlord and manager, attacked him early Tuesday morning over an argument about winning Oscars. Haymes had returned home with his roommates after dinner and drinks, he said, when Bautista boasted that he would someday win five Oscars. “When he said ‘five Oscars,’ we all just kind of laughed a little bit, and he got really upset,” Haymes told KCBS. According to Haymes, Bautista then chased him into a room, swung a knife at him, stabbed him, and fled. “I just don’t understand why he would want to do this to me because we’re friends,” Haymes said. Bautista won a Daytime Emmy earlier this year as a producer on the soap opera The Bay. He and Haymes both have roles in an independent movie Bautista produced, El Landlord. Bautista portrays a troubled man chasing his dreams in Hollywood who rents out a house to tenants and has a psychotic breakdown.
| Nike Spoofs Animal House With the University of Oregon’s Greatest Athletes Posted: 12 Sep 2015 10:04 AM PDT The University of Oregon has a handful of claims to fame. Its football team is a force to be reckoned with, winning four of the last six Pacific Coast Conference championships. Its dominant track program earned Eugene, Ore., the nickname Track Town USA. And, of course, Animal House was filmed there. So Nike made a video celebrating all of these things: an Animal House spoof starring some of the university’s greatest football legends and a smattering of track and field stars. The video parodies one of the 1978 comedy’s most famous scenes, a raucous, toga-party dance session to a live performance of “Shout” by Otis Day and the Knights. Heisman winner Marcus Mariota stands in for John Belushi, with appearances by Hall of Famer Dan Fouts, All-American Ahmad Rashad, track stars English Gardner and Mandy White, mascot “the Duck,” Modern Family’s Ty Burrell (“born and raised a Duck”) and Otis Day himself.

Watch Stephen Colbert Whistle a Duet With Paul Simon on the Late Show Posted: 12 Sep 2015 10:03 AM PDT When Stephen Colbert announced his first week’s lineup as host of the Late Show on CBS, one unfamiliar musical act invited speculation: just who was this mysterious Paul Simon tribute band called Troubled Waters? But when the band took the stage Friday night, the rumors were put to rest, as Troubled Waters, it turned out, was helmed by none other than Simon himself. Simon pretended to be an impostor as Colbert recounted a story of the real-life Simon rejecting his request to whistle the solo to “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard.” Bristling at the injury, Colbert got Simon to admit that yes, “Paul Simon is a bit of a jerk.” The pair went on to perform the song, with Colbert fulfilling his lifelong dream alongside the 12-time Grammy-winning artist. The verdict on Colbert’s solo? A little pitchy, but full of pizzazz. Watch the video below:
Artist Creates ‘Syrian Super Mario’ to Show the Hardship of Being a Refugee Posted: 12 Sep 2015 08:56 AM PDT Since the outbreak of civil war in Syria in 2011, more than 4 million Syrians have sought refuge in other countries, and stories of their arduous, and often perilous, journeys to Europe have garnered escalating international attention. To show the challenges faced by Syrian refugees, a Syrian artist named Samir al-Mutfi has reimagined the Super Mario Bros. video game, which turns 30 this week, as a dangerous journey over borders and across seas. “Syrian Super Mario” grabs his suitcase, withdraws his savings and attempts to flee to safety. Along the way to a refugee camp, he faces armed soldiers who solicit bribes, dangerous waters and violent smugglers. The 8-bit obstacles Syrian Mario faces are, of course, often deadly in real life. Earlier this week, images of a drowned 3-year-old Syrian boy offered a stark reminder of the suffering many families have faced.
